Rent Dumpsters NY Donates Services To CCNY Students

This fall, Cardella Waste's Rent Dumpsters donated their services to help students of The City College of New York (CCNY) build a Solar Roof Pod, which was entered into the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Decathalon.  

The Solar Decathalon is a collegiate competition where students are asked to design, build and operate a solar home. The members of Team New York, which consisted of students and faculty advisors from the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture and the Grove School of Engineering, was one of 20 teams to compete.  

"Team New York’s Solar Roofpod is designed to enable eco-conscious urban dwellers to live lightly, as stewards of a more resilient urban environment, cost-effectively producing solar power and heat, cultivating roof gardens, and retaining and recycling stormwater."

Team New York brought their Solar Roof Pod to Wasginton D.C., where it was exhibited on the National Mall and judged in 10 different categories.
